The
le VI-athon Adventure Challenge is a four day relay event covering
762 kms from Cape Scott in the very North of Vancouver Island to
Victoria in the very South of Vancouver Island. The event will traverse
the Vancouver Island Recreational Corridor which mainly incorporates
several already established trail systems but is partly in the domain
of private landholders and interests in the form of First Nation
Groups and timber companies. With their cooperation, road and trail
systems running through their land will enable us to create a single
recreational corridor and to offer to our participants an unrivaled
challenge and opportunity to experience some of the most beautiful
natural settings in the world.
The
le VI-athon is meant to involve all groups who will have an active
interest in the Vancouver Island Recreational Corridor. Thus,
each team in the Event will consist of four component teams. These
component teams will have four runners, four mountain bikers,
four paddlers or four horseback riders. These component teams
will register separately and be grouped into an appropriate team
by the Event organizers.
Because
of the vast length of the le VI-athon Adventure Challenge all runners,
mountain bikers, paddlers and horseback riders will start out simultaneously
every day. There will be no relay between different component groups
of a team. However, each component group will participate in a relay
event every day and each team will have its component group's time
added to determine the team's time for the day.
All
participants will receive meals, accommodation and transportation
for themselves and their equipment and animals during the four days
of the le VI-athon Adventure Challenge.
